Prometheus time, baby!
So we start off by meeting Elizabeth Shaw (the fantastic Noomi Rapace) and Charlie Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green). The two think that the Engineers are inviting them. Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce)- who is in charge of Weyland Corporation- covers a trip on the Prometheus to go to LV-223. Robot David (a great Michael Fassbender) watches over the crew.
The team starts researching and they find an Engineer head (happens to the best of us). They think that the Engineers are no more. Millburn ( Rafe Spall) and Fifield (Sean Harris) try to make it back to the Prometheus; but, they literally and figuratively get lost in space. The crew has to return to the Prometheus. David brings a vessel (happens to the best of us). It is found out that Engineers and humans share the same DNA. David contaminates Holloway’s drink and Holloway and Shaw have er… ice cream.
Millburn is offed and Fifield is under attack. David finds an Engineer. Charlie gets sick and Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron) is all “Yuck! I am not getting sick!” Charlie encourages Meredith to off him and she complies. We then find out that the infertile Shaw is preggers. We then get the famous/infamous C-section scene, and…
Reminiscent of Geena Davis’ maggot nightmare sequence in The Fly, Rapace is great during this scene. Also, the special effects still hold up.
Anyway, we find out that Peter Weyland wants to increase his life span (cue Alphaville).
New Fifield goes after the crew of the Prometheus; but, Janek (Idris Elba) offs him. David tries to converse with the Engineer; but, the Engineer attacks David. The Engineer also offs Weyland and some of the Prometheus crew. Shaw lets Janek know that the Engineer is going to use a biological weapon on humanity and Janek offs himself to stop this. Vickers is offed.
Shaw uses her alien baby to fight the Engineer. The alien baby is able to get the Engineer at bay. Shaw wants to get to the Engineers base to find out what the motivation of the Engineers was and David helps her do this… until Alien: Covenant.
We end with the deceased Engineer giving birth to an alien.
I am one of the few who liked Prometheus. Don’t expect a typical Alien movie and you might just have a good time with this one.
