Mean Girls (2004) Movie Review

Is Mean Girls any good?

Let’s find out:

So we start off by meeting Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan). Cady is transitioning from homeschooling to regular schooling. Cady becomes friends with Janis Ian (Lizzy Caplan) and Damian Leigh (Daniel Franzese).

We then meet the Plastics:

1. Gretchen Wieners (Lacey Chabert)

2. Karen Smith (Amanda Seyfried)

3. Regina George (Rachel McAdams)

Janis decides to use Cady against Regina. Cady has a crush on Aaron Samuels (Jonathan Bennett); however, there is much drama because Aaron is Regina’s ex.

We then find out about the Burn Book. Regina kisses Aaron and Cady wants revenge. Cady makes Regina gain weight.

Aaron to Cady is all “You are the next Regina.” Janice is upset because Cady ditched her.

Regina goes full super villain with the Burn Book. Principal Duvall (Tim Meadows) and Ms. Norbury (Tina Fey)…

Shout-out to Meadows and Fey for their acting on both of these parts, by the way. Ms. Norbury is the type of teacher that everyone wanted.

…hold one of those assemblies that your class probably had at some point. Janis renounces Regina and a bus hits Regina.

Cady unwittingly gets Ms. Norbury involved in a drug investigation. Cady then participates with the Mathletes. Cady then gets Spring Fling Queen, she pulls a more peaceful version of Carrie White, and she and Aaron kiss.

Regina becomes a lethal athlete (is there any other kind?). Gretchen becomes part of a new clique. Cady pictures a bus hitting some new Plastics.

On re-watch, Mean Girls does have a funny script and it will give you high school flashbacks. I wouldn’t recommend for younger kids because I was in fourth grade when this movie came out and I thought that it had a negative impact on some of the kids in my class.
