Is Brightburn any good?
Let’s find out:
So we start off by meeting Tori (Elizabeth Banks) and Kyle Breyer (David Denman). A spaceship crashes near them and Tori and Kyle adopt the kid/alien inside and they name him Brandon. Years pass. Brandon (now played by Jackson A. Dunn) has Superman powers. You also wouldn’t like Brandon when he was angry.
Brandon is a bit of a Carrie White. Caitlyn Connor (Emmie Hunter) is kind to Brandon; but, Brandon breaks into her room one night. Caitlyn calls Brandon a pervert and, in response, Brandon crushes Caitlyn’s hand. Caitlyn’s mom (Erika (Becky Wahlstrom)) is not happy about this.
Brandon’s spaceship wants him to literally and figuratively take the world. Tori gives Brandon the Clark Kent/Superman talk and he offs Erica. Brandon offs Noah (his uncle) (Matt Jones). Kyle finds that Brandon has blood on his shirt; but, Tori is in denial.
Kyle tries to off Brandon on a hunting trip (that was nice of him); but, his attempt is unsuccessful. Brandon offs Kyle and he tells Tori that he is going after her.
Brandon comes and he offs some cops. Tori plans to use a piece of Brandon’s ship against him. Tori tries to stab Brandon; but, he drops her to her death.
We then discover that Brandon/Brightburn is causing chaos and we get a J. Jonah Jameson.
Brightburn is a good fix for superhero fatigue. Dunn brings some young Norman Bates energy. Banks is good and Denman is believable as Not-Jonathan Kent.
