Does The Silence of the Lambs hold up?
Let’s find out:
So we start off by meeting FBI trainee Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster). Clarice’s assignment is Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins). The FBI is hoping to use Lecter to get info on Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine).
Clarice sees Lecter; but, Lecter is able to figure out what she is up to. However, Lecter decides to help Clarice out when Miggs throws some semen on her. Clarice finds a man’s head and Lecter wants to get away from Dr. Frederick Chilton (Anthony Heald). Lecter has Miggs off himself and Clarice finds another dead body.
Bill kidnaps Catherine Martin (Brooke Smith). Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) has Clarice manipulate Lecter into thinking that he will transfer prisons if Catherine Martin is rescued. Lecter offers his help if Clarice gives him personal information. Chilton is all “Dude! Clarice is a liar!”; so, he has Lecter go to Memphis. Lecter gives Senator Martin (Diane Baker) information on Buffalo Bill; however, Lecter identifies Bill as Louis Friend.
Clarice figures out that the name is in code. We find out that Clarice tried to stop some lambs from being killed when she was younger; but, she could not. Lecter thinks that this is the reason why she is trying to save Catherine. Lecter offs a couple of guards and he leaves.
Clarice finds out that Bill is working on a line of clothing with a human touch. Bill is Jame Gumb. Gumb, he thinks that he is transsexual; but, he was unable to get a sex-change operation. Crawford goes to Gumb’s place; however, no one is there. Clarice finds Gumb and she finds Catherine. We get the famous night-vision goggles scene and Clarice offs Gumb.
Clarice graduates. Lecter calls her and we find out that Clarice will keep pursuing him. We also find out that Chilton is on the menu for Lecter’s dinner.
The Silence of the Lambs is still a classic.
