M3GAN time, baby!

 So we start off with Cady (Violet McGraw) losing her parents to a car accident. Cady winds up with her aunt (Gemma (Allison Williams)). Gemma is employed at Funki. Gemma is working on M3GAN. M3GAN is (essentially) a robot doll/friend for a child. However, after some setbacks, David (Ronny Chieng) wants Gemma to move in a different direction. On the home side of things, Gemma and Cady are struggling until Cady interacts with Bruce (Gemma’s robot). This gives Gemma a boost to continue working on M3GAN.

M3GAN starts acting as a surrogate parent to Cady, and…

I’m sure that this is in no way a commentary on how parents use their cell phones/tablets to co-parent their kids.

…and Tess (Jen Van Epps), Cole (Brian Jordan Alvarez) and  Lydia (Amy Usherwood) are worried about this. M3GAN offs Celia (Lori Dungey)’s dog Dewey after Dewey goes after Cady. M3GAN also goes all Carrie White on Brandon (Jack Cassidy). 

When Celia gets nosy, M3GAN uses insecticide and a nail gun to off her. Gemma, Tess and Cole try to work on M3GAN. Cady acts up and Gemma is all “Dude! You need therapy! Not some creepy robot doll!”

M3GAN nearly hangs Cole and she starts an explosion in the lab. M3GAN offs David and Kurt (David’s assistant) and she winds up at Gemma’s house.

M3GAN is all “Dude! You should let me parent Cady!” Gemma is able to do some damage on M3GAN; but, M3GAN gets the upper hand. Cady uses Bruce to fight M3GAN; but, M3GAN still keeps her top half. M3GAN is ultimately defeated via a processing chip. However, it is implied that M3GAN may have taken over Gemma’s AI device.

As Cinema Therapy said, M3GAN is robotic Chucky; but, M3GAN is a fun robotic Chucky movie.
