To Grandmother’s House We Go (1992) Movie Review

To Grandmother’s House We Go time, baby!

So we start off by meeting Sarah and Julie (Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen). Rhonda (Cynthia Geary) (their mom) is frustrated. Sarah and Julie hear that their mom needs a parenting vacation; so, Sarah and Julie decided to go to their great grandmother’s.

Sarah and Julie run into Eddie (J. Eddie Peck). Eddie has a thing for Rhonda and Sarah and Julie (inadvertently) help Eddie with the lottery.

Rhonda calls the cops; but, Eddie is going to bring Sarah and Julie to her; but, Eddie is intercepted.

Harvey and Shirley (Jerry “Frankie’s dad in The Middle” Van Dyke and Rhea Perlman) decide to hold the kids for that sweet, sweet cash and Shirley tells the girls that she is taking them to their great grandma. Shirley and Rhonda agree to meet up at an ice rink. While this is going on, Harvey is starting to get Lima Syndrome for the Olsen twins.

Out of desperation, Rhonda and Eddie are pawning Eddie’s packages (that came out wrong). The pawnshops get the cops involved (specifically  Detective Gremp (Stuart Margolin).

Ice rink time! Sarah and Julie find out that they are not going to their great grandmother’s. Sarah and Julie take off in Santa’s sleigh and Eddie has to rescue the girls. Sarah and Julie make it to their great grandmother’s (Mimi (Florence Paterson)). Harvey and Shirley are handled by the proper authorities.

Eddie wins the lottery and his stolen goods are given back (still coming out wrong). Eddie, Rhonda, Sarah, Julie, the Professor and Mary Ann start a life as a family.

Picture a madcap Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Christmas movie and you get this movie. There are some fun cynical moments.
