Is The Wolverine any good?

Let’s find out:

 So we start off in in 1945. Japanese soldiers leave as soon as they see bombers approaching.  Ichiro Yashida (Haruhiko Yamanouchi) shows mercy to the American POWs. One of the POWs is Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and Logan believes that he is safer where he currently is.

Yashida sees his superiors prepping to commit suicide. Logan saves Yashida.

Years pass. Logan is in bed with Jean Grey (Famke Jannsen). Logan is all “Sorry for offing you in X-Men: The Last Stand,” only to discover that Jean is stabbed, and…

Yup, nightmare.

Anyway, Logan discovers a mass offing of campers and a dead bear (sounds like a morbid children’s book). Logan goes to a bar and someone is proud that they shot a bear. Things escalate with Logan, the bear shooter and the bear shooter’s friends; but, Yukio (Rila Fukushima) helps Logan. We find out that Yukio is in league with Yashida and that Yashida wants to bid farewell to Logan.

Logan meets Shingen (Ichiro’s son) (Hiroyuki Sanada) and Mariko (Ichiro’s granddaughter/Shingen’s daughter) (Tao Okamoto). We get some Hugh Jackman fanservice, we meet Doctor Green, we find out that Ichiro has cancer and we find out that he wants Logan’s healing power; but, Logan is reluctant.

Logan stumbles upon Mariko and her dad disagreeing and Logan saves Mariko. We find out that the Yashidas are kind of using Yukio as a friend for Mariko.

Doctor Green makes a pass at Logan and Ichiro dies. Logan meets Noburo and Noburo and Mariko are engaged. Mariko winds up getting kidnapped and Logan’s healing power seems to be having technical difficulties. Logan winds up saving Mariko and we get a train battle. We find out that Ichiro left pretty much everything to Mariko and Mariko and Logan fall in love.

Mariko tells Logan about Harada. Yukio has a vision about Logan dying. Mariko gets captured and we find out that the Yakuza (the bad guys) are working for Noburo. Yukio tells Logan about her vision. 

We find out that Noburo is running around on Mariko. We find out that Shingen is pulling the strings because he is upset about not getting that sweet, sweet estate.

Shingen is about to off Mariko; however, Doctor Green interrupts this. We find out that Doctor Green is Viper and she poisons Shingen; but, somehow, Shingen makes it?

Logan has to operate on himself because it turns out that Doctor Green was the one who was messing with his healing power. Logan makes it and he and Shingen battle. We find out that Ichiro faked his death and that he built a massive Iron Man suit. Wolverine and Not-Iron Man battle. Mariko helps Logan and Logan offs Ichiro.

Mariko takes control of the Yashida company and Logan continues his adventures.

The Wolverine, for me, is a pretty standard Wolverine adventure.
