X-Men: Apocalypse time, baby!
So we start off in Egypt. Pharoah En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) is trying to get into the body of a mutant (that came out wrong) because getting into the mutant’s body means that Nur/Apocalypse will live forever (still coming out wrong).
Apocalypse winds up buried alive; but, some of his devotees bring him back in 1983. Apocalypse is set on world domination and he gets Ororo Monroe (Alexandra Shipp) for his team.
We then reunite with Raven/Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), who has gained celebrity status. Raven saves Kurt Wagner (Kodi Smit-McPhee) from a mutant cage match-y thing in East Berlin. Kurt had been duking it out with Warren Worthington III/ The Angel (Ben Hardy). Raven gets Kurt to the U.S. and Apocalypse gets Angel and Psyloche ( Olivia Munn) to his team.
Alex Summers is trying to get Scott Summers (Tye Sheridan) into Charles Xavier (James McAvoy)’s academy. Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and Scott have a crush on each other.
Charles goes to see Moira McTaggart (Rose Byrne) and she gets him up-to-date on Apocalypse.
We then reunite with Erik Lensherr/Magneto (Michael Fassbender), who is living a sitcom life with a wife and daughter. However, people figure out who he is, the authorities come for him, Erik loses his wife and daughter and Erik gets angry. Apocalypse wants Erik for his team. Apocalypse takes Erik to Auschwitz, and…
Who thought that this scene was a good idea?
Apocalypse then tries to get rid of things that will get in his way. He destroys the mansion and takes Charles captive. Alex is offed. Some of the mutants were at the movies and Pietro/Quicksilver (Evan Peters) saves other mutants. Scott, Jean and Nightcrawler return. William Stryker takes Mystique, Hank (Nicholas Hoult), Moira and Quicksilver to Weapon X.
Jean, Scott and Nightcrawler go to Weapon X and they save Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).
Apocalypse tries to talk Magneto into going on a killing spree; but, Mystique is able to talk him out of it by being all “The X-Men are your family.”
Angel is offed, Psyloche leaves, Storm switches sides, Jean goes all Phoenix on Apocalypse and Erik leaves.
We end with Mystique trying to talk the X-Men into a Sentinel fighting drill.
X-Men: Apocalypse is your standard X-Men adventure. The Quicksilver scene is fun; but, it is has been done before.
