Does X2 hold up?

Let’s find out:

So we start off with Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming)’s attack on the White House.

We then transition to Storm (Halle Berry), Cyclops/Scott Summers (James Marsden) and Jean Grey (Famke Jannsen) taking some of the students on a field trip. Artie (one of the students) sees a girl sticking her tongue out at him. In response, Artie shows the girl his Fruit by the Foot tongue. 

We then reunite with Rogue (Anna Paquin). Rogue is with Bobby (Shawn Ashmore) and Pyro (Aaron Stanford). Someone wants a light, Pyro is all “No,” Pyro winds up setting one of the light asker’s friends on fire and Bobby has to use his abilities. Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) comes and gives a lecture.

We then reunite with Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), who is still) masquerading as Senator Kelly. “Kelly” gets sent to the Oval Office and “Kelly” meets with the anti-mutant Colonel William Stryker (Brian Cox). Stryker wants to go after Xavier’s institute and “Kelly” tries to talk Stryker out of this.

“Kelly” then runs into Yuriko (Kelly Hu). “Kelly” becomes “Yuriko” and “Yuriko” tries to start a prison break on Erik Lensherr/Magneto (Ian McKellan). 

We then get a Rogue-Logan/Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) reunion and we get a Jean-Logan reunion. 

We then reunite with Stryker, who is making Magneto tell him about Cerebro. 

Cyclops and Xavier then reunite with Magneto. Xavier and Cyclops are taken hostage by associates of Stryker. Stryker starts his attack on the school. Stryker recognizes Logan; but, Logan is drawing a blank; however, Bobby saves the situation.

Magneto then offs Laurio (Ty Olsson).

Bobby then has to reveal to his parents that he is a mutant. Ronny (Bobby’s younger brother) (James Kirk) alerts the authorities. Pyro fights against the authorities; but, Rogue stops him and Jean and Storm help to resolve things.

We then get some backstory on Stryker: Once upon a time, Stryker tried to get Xavier to cure Jason his (Stryker’s son) (Michael Reid MacKay). Xavier was all “No” and Jason’s abilities wound up offing Stryker’s wife. Stryker is basically using the lobotomized Jason now and Stryker wants to get rid of the mutants.

Magneto then meets up with Jean and company. Jean is all “I’m not into claws” to Wolverine. Walking Rebecca Romijn fanservice masquerades as Jean; but, Logan doesn’t fall for it. 

Magneto and the X-Men team up and Magneto and Pyro bond. 

The X-Men go after Stryker. While this is going on, Jason poses as a little girl (Keely Purvis) and he tries to puppeteer Xavier into getting rid of mutants. 

We find out that Yuriko has claws. Logan offs Yuriko.

A mind-controlled Cyclops goes after Jean; but, Jean is able to stop him. 

Magneto and walking Rebecca Romijn fanservice stumble upon Xavier and Jason. “Stryker” tells Jason to have Xavier get rid of humans. Magneto, walking Rebecca Romijn fanservice and Pyro depart. Nightcrawler helps Storm get into Cerebro (that came out wrong). Storm stops Jason from influencing Xavier. 

The X-Men rescue some kids that Stryker took. Stryker tries to tempt Logan; but, Logan does not take the bait. 

Jean takes one for the team. 

We end with Xavier being optimistic for the future.

X2 is still a good superhero movie.
