It is like Hogwarts decided to put on a production of Beauty and the Beast and cast Hermione Granger as Belle.

Anyway, Belle is the daughter of Maurice (Kevin Kline). We then meet Gaston (Luke Evans), and…

Gaston in this one does not seem that interested in Belle. He treats it as more of a casual dating thing.

Anyway, Maurice stumbles upon the Beast’s castle. Beast keeps Maurice prisoner until Belle trades places with her father. 

We then meet:

1. Lumiere (Ewan McGregor)

2. Cogsworth (Ian McKellen)

3. Plumette (Gugu Mbatha-Raw)

4. Mrs. Potts (Emma Thompson)

5. Chip 

Anyway, we then get the Beast saves Belle from wolves scene. Belle finds out that her mother died from the plague.

We then reunite with Maurice. Gaston agrees to assist him until Maurice is all “Belle will not be your wife”; so, Gaston literally and figuratively throws Maurice to the wolves. But, Agathe (Hattie Morahan) saves Maurice; so, Gaston decides to get Maurice into an insane asylum. The Beast frees Belle once Belle and the Beast realize Maurice’s situation; however, Gaston tries to get Belle into the asylum once he realizes that she has romantic feelings for the Beast. Belle and Maurice are able to get out of their predicament.

Gaston goes after Beast; but, Belle gives Beast a much needed-morale booster. Beast lets Gaston go, Gaston shoots the Beast and Gaston dies. The Beast passes away and the furniture becomes soulless. Belle confesses her love for the Beast and Agathe/the enchantress turns the Beast and the furniture human. We end with a ball and, Watson and Stevens decide that, since the movie is almost done, now is the time for them to start having some chemistry, and…

Better late than never… I guess?

Beauty and the Beast 2017 is a slog. My recommendation? Watch the animated one instead.
