Does Enchanted hold up?

Let’s find out:

 So we start off in Andalasia. The narrator (Julie Andrews) informs us that Queen Narissa (voiced and played by Susan Sarandon) fears that Prince Edward (her stepson) (voiced and played by a fun and fantastic James Marsden) will get into the wedding mood. Enter Giselle (voiced and played by a fun and fantastic Amy Adams). Remember the Prince Eric statue from The Little Mermaid? Giselle is with the creepier cousin of that statue.

We then reunite with Edward, who spends his days hunting trolls. Edward is entranced by Giselle; but, Nathaniel (voiced and played by Timothy Spall) sends a troll after the girl. Edward and Giselle decide to get married; but, Narissa sends Giselle to New York (talk about a long-distance relationship). Giselle Elfs her way through the city.

We then meet divorce attorney Robert Philip (a fantastic Patrick Dempsey). Robert is dating Nancy (played and voiced by Idina Menzel). Robert has a daughter (Morgan (Rachel Covey)). Robert is trying to get Morgan excited about the Nancy situation; but, Robert and Morgan stumble upon Giselle. Morgan loves the real life princess; but, Robert fears that Giselle is a few steps away from becoming a horror movie villain. Edward and Pip (Giselle’s squirrel sidekick) wind up in New York.

Robert makes the incredibly stupid decision to let Giselle stay in his apartment. Giselle decides to use the Disney princess movie rules to create an exterminator situation in Robert’s apartment and we get “Happy Working Song.”

In a classic rom-com situation, Robert walks in on Giselle while she is showering. An oblivious Giselle covers herself up with a towel. At this time, Nancy comes and gets the wrong idea.

Nathaniel arrives in New York. Giselle’s Disney princess ideals clash with Robert’s divorce attorney work and we get  “That’s How You Know.” Giselle and Robert send flowers and ball tickets to Nancy.

Giselle and Robert have dinner. We find out why Robert is so cynical, he starts to soften and he starts to bond with Giselle. Edward finds Giselle, we find out that Robert’s cynicism is starting to rub off on Giselle and she insists on dating Edward before she marries him.

We then get the obligatory Disney princess shopping montage. Narissa arrives and, ball time!

Giselle goes with Edward and Robert goes with Nancy; but, they wind up switching partners. Narissa Snow Whites Giselle and Robert kisses her to save her from the poison apple. Narissa Sleeping Beautys herself, she takes Robert and Giselle saves him.

Nathaniel turns good and becomes an author. Edward and Nancy wind up together and Giselle and Robert wind up together.

Enchanted is a good movie and Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey and James Marsden are great.
