The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014) Movie Review

Does The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 hold up?

Let’s find out:

So we start off by reuniting with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) and Beetee (Jeffrey Wright). The trio goes to District 13.

We then get a Katniss-Primrose Everdeen (Willow Shields) reunion. We then meet President Alma Coin (Julianne Moore).

Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks) is Katniss’ stylist. Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth) is Katniss’ protection.

The trio goes to District 8 and a District 8 hospital shows their support of Katniss. In retaliation, President Coriolanus Snow (Donald Sutherland) offs the inhabitants of the hospital. Katniss and Gale go after Snow’s hovercrafts and Katniss expresses her rage.

Katniss goes to District 12 to sing “The Hanging Tree.” District 5 goes after the Capitol’s electricity.

Caesar Flickerman (Stanley Tucci) is interviewing Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson); however, do not adjust your set. Beetee and Coin have Katniss interrupt the interview. Pita Bread tries to warn Katniss that the Capitol is going after District 13 and Katniss discovers Snow’s white roses as a message to her.

Coin stages a rescue operation for Johanna Mason (Jena Malone), Annie Cresta (Stef Dawson) and Pita Bread. We find out that Snow has been and will continue pimping out tributes, and…

That is a thousand levels of sick.

Anyway, we also find out that Snow offed the competition for his job. Pita Bread is saved; but, we find out that Snow has made Pita Bread rabid. A cure for Pita Bread is worked on and we discover that our protagonists are going after District 2 next because District 2 is still a Capitol groupie.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is still a good movie.
