Does The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hold up?
Let’s find out:
President Coriolanus Snow (Donald Sutherland) wants Katniss Everdeen (a fantastic Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) to pretend that they are in love.
We’re then introduced to Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman).
A Peacekeeper whips Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth); but, Katniss, Pita Bread and Haymitch Abernathy (Woody Harrelson) come to Gale’s aid.
Anyway, for the next Hunger Games, victors from the previous games are to be the tributes. Pita Bread pulls a Mulan/Katniss and takes Haymitch’s place.
President Snow wants Katniss to wear a wedding dress; but, Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) has the dress turn into a mockingjay. President Snow has Cinna offed because of Cinna’s Say Yes to the Dress (Say No to the Dress?) audition.
For the Games, Katniss and Pita Bread team up with Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) and Mags (Lynn Cohen). Mags saves the group from a lethal fog. Katniss, Pita Bread and Finnick then contend with evil Rafikis.
Katniss, Pita Bread and Finnick then team up with Beetee (Jeffrey Wright), Wiress (Amanda Plummer) and Johanna Mason (Jena Malone). Gloss (Alan Ritchson), Cashmere (Stephanie Leigh Schlund) and Wiress die.
Beetee plans to off the other tributes by electrocuting them. Johanna removes Katniss’ tracking number. Katniss thinks that Finnick offed Pita Bread; but, Finnick sets her straight. Katniss expresses her rage against the machine.
Katniss then reunites with Haymitch, Finnick, Beetee and Heavensbee. We find out that the Capitol has Johanna and Pita Bread. Katniss is upset at Haymitch over the Pita Bread situation and she (Katniss) winds up in District 13 with Gale. We find out that District 12 is no more.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is still a good movie.
