Does A Cinderella Story hold up?

Let’s find out:

So we start off by meeting Samantha “Sam” Montgomery (Hilary Duff). Sam lives with her evil stepmother Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge). Sam also lives with her evil stepsisters (Brianna (Madeline Zima) and Gabriella (Andrea Avery)). 

Wannabe Regina George Shelby (Julie Gonzalo) makes fun of Carter (Dan Byrd) and Sam. Sam works at her deceased father’s diner and  Rhonda (Regina King) acts as a surrogate mother to the girl. 

Sam has a You’ve Got Mail situation going with Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray). Austin is also Shelby’s love interest. 

School dance time! Fiona tries to interfere with Sam going to the dance; but, Carter and Rhonda assist Sam. Austin does not recognize Sam because she is wearing a mask that barely covers her face, and…

Austin would never figure out that Clark Kent is Superman.

Anyway, an in-disguise Carter and Shelby hit it off. A cell phone acts as the glass slipper and Carter helps Sam pull off the ole duping the stepmother trick.

After the dance, Shelby goes back to dissing Carter. Shelby, Brianna and Gabriella pull a PG-rated Mean Girls on Sam.

Fiona makes it seem that Sam did not get into college. Sam accidentally discovers her father’s motto and she tells Fiona off. Sam also tells Austin off; but, Austin reconciles with her and Sam and Austin kiss.

Sam discovers that she owns the diner (she gives half of it to Rhonda) and Sam has college tuition in the form of Fiona, Brianna and Gabriella’s cars. Brianna and Gabriella reveal Fiona’s college ruse. Fiona, Brianna and Gabriella wind up employed at the diner. Carter winds up with Astrid (Aimee Lynn Chadwick). Sam and Austin wind up together.
