Does Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix hold up?
Let’s find out:
So we start off with Dementors going after Dudley Dursley (Harry Melling) and Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe).
We then find out that the Ministry of Magic is trying to sweep the whole Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) thing under the carpet.
We then meet Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton). Umbridge hates defensive spells and Harry, Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) start Dumbledore’s Army (sounds like a TV show) in response. Cho Chang (Katie Leung) and Harry fall in love, and…
How quickly Cho Chang moved on from Edward Cullen’s death.
Anyway, Harry has a vision of Arthur Weasley (Mark Williams) being tortured. To combat this, Harry learns occlumency from Severus Snape (Alan Rickman). Harry discovers that James Potter/his dad made fun of Severus, and…
Tough lesson for any kid to learn.
Anyway, Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter)/Sirius’ cousin has staged a prison break from Azkaban. Umbridge finds out about Dumbledore’s Army. Umbridge goes after Albus (Michael Gambon); but, Dumbledore literally and figuratively pulls a disappearing act. Harry and Cho have a third-act rom-com misunderstanding over the incident and Umbridge grows to full power.
Harry then finds out that Sirius is in serious trouble. Umbridge tries to use a sadistic punishment on Harry; but, Hermione tricks her (Umbridge) and poetic justice is served to Umbridge via centaurs. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch), Neville Longbottom (Matthew Lewis) and Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) stage a Rescue-Sirius mission.
However, it turns out that the whole thing was a trap because only Harry has access to a prophecy that Voldemort wants. Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs) and Bellatrix do battle with the kids. The prophecy winds up being demolished and Bellatrix offs Sirius.
We then get a Dumbledore versus Voldemort battle. Voldemort tries to take over Harry; but, Voldy is defeated by the power of love. Umbridge gets more justice, Harry learns the prophecy and we end with Harry starting to sing A Girl Worth Fighting For from Mulan.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is still a good movie.
