Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005) Movie Review

Does Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire hold up?

Let’s find out:

So we start off with Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) dreaming of Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) and Peter Pettigrew (Timothy Spall). Harry, the Weasleys, Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), and Cedric Diggory (Edward Cullen… just kidding… Robert Pattinson) then go to the Quidditch World Cup; however, the World Cup is interrupted by Death Eaters.

It turns out that Hogwarts will be having the Triwizard Tournament with the Durmstrang Institute and the Beauxbatons Academy.

The following students are chosen to compete in the Tournament:

1. Fleur Delacour (Beauxbatons) (Clémence Poésy)

2. Viktor Krum (Durmstrang) (Stanislav Ianevski)

3. Edward Cullen (Hogwarts)

4. Harry Potter (Hogwarts)

Fleur, Viktor, Edward and Harry have to collect eggs while avoiding dragons.

School dance time! Harry wants to go to the dance with Cho Chang (Katie Leung); but, Edward already asked her; so, Harry is stuck going with Parvati Patil (Shefali Chowdhury). Hermione is going with Viktor; so, Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) is stuck going with Padma Patil (Afshan Azad). The dance ends with Harry and Ron moping, Hermione upset, Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) doing vehicle checks, and…

Sounds like a typical school dance.

We then get the famous Harry-Moaning Myrtle (Shirley Henderson) bath scene, and…

This scene is gross because you have a forty-year-old woman perving on a fifteen-year-old boy.

Anyway, back to the review.

For the next task, the champions need to rescue their loved ones. Harry wins second place because he rescued Fleur’s sister. Harry discovers Barty Crouch Sr. (Roger Lloyd-Pack). Harry then sees the past trial of Igor Karkaroff  (Predrag Bjelac) and Karkaroff reveals that Barty Crouch Jr. (David Tennant) is evil.

For the next task, the contestants have to navigate a maze; however, it turns out to be a trap by Lord Voldemort. Peter Pettigrew offs Edward, and…

Still a better love story than Twilight

Anyway, Voldemort tries to kill Harry; but, Harry is able to stop him. Voldemort’s dead victims help Harry get back to Hogwarts with a dead Edward Cullen in tow. We then find out that Barty Crouch Jr. has been pretending to be Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody (Brendan Gleeson).

We end with the Durmstrang Institute and the Beauxbatons Academy leaving. We also end with set-up for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is still a good family movie.
