Does Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets hold up?

Let’s find out:

So we start off with Ron (Rupert Grint), Fred and George Weasley (James and Oliver Phelps) saving Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) from the  Dursleys.

Harry, the Weasleys and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) then meet the narcissistic Gilderoy Lockhart (Kenneth Branagh). Harry then spots Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs) messing with Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright)’s cauldron.

Harry discovers Filch’s cat petrified and he also discovers the following: “The Chamber of Secrets has been opened, enemies of the heir… beware.” Harry, Ron and Hermione are going to interrogate Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) and, to do this, Harry, Ron and Hermione are going to use a potion. Harry, Ron and Hermione then meet Moaning Myrtle (Shirley Henderson), and…

Ugh. As a glasses-wearing girl, I hated Moaning Myrtle.

Anyway, we learn more about the chamber from Dobby (voiced by Toby Jones), Harry and Ron. Tom Riddle (Christian Coulson), and…

I hadn’t seen Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets a lot since it first came out, and…

I forgot how good Christian Coulson is as young Voldy.

Anyway, Tom Riddle threw Rubeus Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) under the bus for the chamber business. Hermione gets petrified. 

Dumbledore (Richard Harris) and Lucius serve as Hagrid’s personal escort to Azkaban; but, Hagrid gives Harry and Ron a clue on how to get out of this mess and Harry and Ron discover Aragog- Hagrid’s spider (poor Ron). Ginny is in trouble in the chamber and Lockhart is trying to get out of Dodge. Lockhart tries to wipe Harry and Ron’s memories; however, he accidentally takes his own. Harry and Fawkes fight Tom Riddle’s basilisk. Harry prevails; but, he is injured. Harry gets rid of Riddle and he (Harry) recovers from his injury.

Harry rescues Dobby from Lucius Malfoy. There is a de-petrification and Hermione, Harry and Ron have a reunion. Hagrid is proved innocent.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is still a good family movie.
