Does Child’s Play 2 hold up?
Let’s find out:
So we start off with Chucky (voiced by Brad Dourif) being brought back to life. Chucky kills again and Mr. Sullivan (Peter Haskell), the head of the doll company, wants Mattson (Greg Germann) to sweep Chucky’s latest under the carpet.
We then reunite with Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), who was taken away from his mom in light of the Chucky incident; however, foster parents Phil (Gerrit Graham) and Joanne Simpson (Jenny Agutter) take the troubled youngster in. We discover that the Simpsons are also taking care of Kyle (Christine Elise), and…
Well-written, not annoying for a teenager character and well-performed by Christine Elise, Kyle is a wonderful addition to the Child’s Play franchise.
Anyway, Chucky offs Mattson. Chucky then vandalizes Andy’s homework and he uses a pump and a yardstick to off Miss Kettlewell (Beth Grant). Chucky offs Phil, Joanne disowns Andy, Kyle discovers the truth about Chucky, she finds a dead Joanne in front of a sewing machine, and…
In fairness, all of my sewing experiences have gone about as well as Joanne’s sewing experience did.
Anyway, Chucky offs the head of Andy’s foster center (Grace Zabriskie). Chucky tries to take over Andy’s body at the Play Pals factory; but, his plan fails. Kyle injures Chucky’s hand; but, Chucky has a crafty replacement for his hand. Kyle and Andy make Chucky’s body into a Cronenberg-ian work of art; but, Chucky is able to get the upper hand on Kyle. Andy is able to get the upper hand on Chucky; but, Chucky attacks again. Kyle re-enacts a sinus medicine commercial with Chucky and this (finally) kills him.
We end with Kyle and Andy alone in the world (except for each other).
Child’s Play 2 is a fun killer doll movie.
