Does Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone hold up?

Let’s find out:

 So we start off with Harry Potter arriving at Aunt Petunia Dursley (Fiona Shaw) and Uncle Vernon Dursley (Richard Griffiths).

Years pass and we reunite with Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe). The Dursleys will not let Harry open his Hogwarts mail; so, Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane) comes and personally invites Harry to Hogwarts. We also find out that Voldemort killed Lily and James Potter; but, you already knew that. Harry gets Hedwig.

Harry gets on the train to Hogwarts and he meets Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint). He also meets Hermione Granger (Emma Watson). The trio arrives at Hogwarts and Harry meets bully Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton). Harry, Ron and Hermione are put into Gryffindor and Draco is put into Slytherin.

Harry, Ron and Hermione find Fluffy the dog. Ron and Hermione fights and Hermione has an emotional breakdown in the girls’ bathroom. A troll enters the bathroom (no, really), Harry and Ron help Hermione and Hermione throws herself under the bus for the troll incident.

Harry, Ron and Hermione find out about the sorcerer’s stone. They believe that Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) is after the stone, Ron plays a big game of chess, and…

Am… am I the only one who really hates playing chess?

Anyway, Harry finds out that Snape was not at fault; but, Quirinus Quirrell (Ian Hart) was and that Voldemort is inhabiting Q-squared. Voldemort pulls the old “I can bring your parents back from the dead” villain trick; but, Harry does not go for it. Q-squared makes an attempt to off Harry; however, Q-squared gets a villain demise and Voldemort lives for another sequel.

Standard Harry Potter ending time. Gryffindor, Harry, Ron and Hermione are celebrated. Harry has to go back to the Dursleys for the summer, and…

Happy ending?

Anyway, Harry is looking forward to going back to Hogwarts.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is still a good family movie.
