Is Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas any good?
Let’s find out:
Belle (voiced by Paige O’Hara) is looking forward to the Christmas season; however, Prince Adam/the Beast (voiced by Robby Benson) is not looking forward to the Christmas season because he was turned into a beast during the Christmas season. Belle and the Beast/Prince Adam ice skate. Forte (voiced by Tim Curry), a pipe organ, watches them. Forte does not want the spell to break because he likes his enchanted form better. Fife (voiced by Paul Reubens) makes Belle and the Beast/Prince Adam fall in the snow. The Beast/Prince Adam gets upset over a snow angel.
Lumiere (voiced by Jerry Orbach) encourages the Beast/Prince Adam to celebrate Christmas. Forte encourages Belle to get a Christmas tree and he tells the Beast/Prince Adam that Belle ditched him.
Forte is practically Shakespearean.
The Beast/Prince Adam takes down the Christmas decorations a little too early. Belle nearly drowns, the Beast/Prince Adam saves her and he (the Beast/Prince Adam) throws Belle in the dungeon, and…
Yes, the Beast/Prince Adam saved Belle’s life; but, at what cost?
Anyway, Fife has a change of heart. The Beast/Prince Adam changes his mind after getting a present from Belle and he gets into the Christmas-celebrating spirit. Forte then tries to kill Belle and the Beast/Prince Adam. The Beast/Prince Adam destroys Forte’s keyboard and Forte accidentally kills himself.
The film ends with the Beast/Prince Adam and Belle having a moment.
Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas may work as a Beauty and the Beast Christmas special; however, it is a crappy sequel to Beauty and the Beast. The animation is crappy and there is a real Stockholm syndrome/abusive relationship vibe to the Beast/Prince Adam and Belle this time because Belle is not standing up for herself and the Beast/Prince Adam is acting worse. Tim Curry is having a blast, though.
