Does Tangled hold up?

Let’s find out:

So we start off by meeting Flynn Rider (voiced by a fantastic Zachary Levi). We find out that Mother Gothel (voiced by a fantastic Donna Murphy) found a flower that can make her young. A queen falls ill; so, the flower is gotten for her.

The queen gives birth to a baby with blonde hair. Mother Gothel steals the baby and she keeps the baby in a tower.

The baby grows into Rapunzel (voiced by a fantastic Mandy Moore) and we get When Will My Life Begin? 

Back to the Flynn storyline.

Flynn Rider and the Stabbington Brothers (voiced by a fantastic Ron Perlman) take Rapunzel’s baby tiara.

Back to the Rapunzel storyline.

Rapunzel wants to leave the tower so that she can see the floating lights on her birthday. Mother Gothel subdues this request with Mother Knows Best and she leaves.

Back to the Flynn storyline.

Flynn steals the tiara from the Stabbington Brothers and Maximus chases after him; however, Flynn and Maximus get separated, Flynn stumbles upon Rapunzel’s tower, Rapunzel takes him captive and she hides him in a closet.

Rapunzel asks Mother Gothel to get her paints and, after Mother Gothel leaves, she negotiates with Flynn. Rapunzel tells Flynn that she will give him the tiara back if he takes her to the kingdom. After a funny Smolder joke, Flynn agrees and we get a reprise of When Will My Life Begin? 

However, Rapunzel begins to feel guilty and she has the debate with herself that every child/teenager has had at some point. Flynn tries to scare Rapunzel by taking her to the Snuggly Duckling; however, Flynn is recognized from his wanted poster and the patrons of the Snuggly Duckling want the reward. We then get I’ve Got a Dream and the patrons help Rapunzel and Flynn leave the Duckling. Maximus looks for Flynn and Maximus and Flynn have a frying pan/sword fight. Maximus bursts a dam and Flynn and Rapunzel are trapped.

Flynn admits that his real name is Eugene Fitz-Herbert and Rapunzel uses her glowing hair to get her and Flynn out of the cave.

While this is going on, Gothel teams up with the Stabbington Brothers.

Flynn/Eugene tells Rapunzel that he is an orphan, and, as soon as Flynn/Eugene leaves, Mother Gothel tries to take Rapunzel home with her; however, Rapunzel refuses and Mother Gothel leaves… for now.

Flynn and Maximus meet, Rapunzel talks Maximus into cooperating because it is her birthday and Rapunzel sees the kingdom. We then get I See the Light.

Anyway, Mother Gothel arranges for Flynn/Eugene to be sent to the castle and she saves Rapunzel from the Stabbington Brothers. Flynn is scheduled to be hung, Rapunzel remembers her past life, she confronts Gothel and things get ugly.

Meanwhile, Maximus and the patrons of the Snuggly Duckling rescue Flynn/Eugene. Flynn/Eugene goes to save Rapunzel; however, Gothel stabs him. Rapunzel tries to save Flynn/Eugene with her hair; however, Flynn/Eugene gives her an impromptu haircut, which makes Mother Gothel disintegrate.

Rapunzel cries on Flynn/Eugene, saving his life in the process. Rapunzel is reunited with her parents, the patrons of the Snuggly Duckling live their dream lives and Flynn/Eugene and Rapunzel (eventually) get married.

Tangled is still a classic.
