Does The Princess and the Frog hold up?

Let’s find out:So we start off with Tiana’s mother telling a young Tiana and a young Lottie the story of the princess and the frog, and…

Lottie is like Blanche Devereaux: The Wonder Years/Blanche Devereaux: The Younger Years.

Anyway, Eudora (Tiana’s mom) (voiced by a fantastic Oprah Winfrey) and Tiana go home. Tiana and  James (her dad) (voiced by a fantastic Terrence Howard) make gumbo.

Years pass, James dies and Tiana (now voiced by a fantastic Anika Noni Rose) grows up. Tiana works so that she can afford a restaurant and we get Down in New Orleans. We meet Prince Naveen (voiced by a fantastic Bruno Campos) and Lawrence (voiced by a fantastic Peter Bartlett). We also meet Doctor Facilier (voiced by a fantastic Keith David), a voodoo-practicing villain.

Anyway, Lottie (now voiced by a fantastic Jennifer Cody) gives Tiana money for beignets because she wants Naveen to fall in love with her.

We then get the beautifully animated Almost There. 

We then get the awesome Friends on the Other Side and Doctor Facilier turns Naveen into a frog.

Back on the Tiana side, a realtor tells her that someone of “your background” is better off where she is. I am proud of Disney for being brave enough to show this side of history and not sugarcoat it too much; however, it is still sugar-coated; however, if Disney did not sugarcoat it, we would have a PG-13 or R-rated Disney princess movie.

Anyway, back to the movie.

To make things better, Lottie gives Tiana a dress and Tiana meets Naveen. Naveen gets the idea of having Tiana kiss him after he sees a copy of   Princess and the Frog. Tiana is reluctant at first; however, after Naveen promises her cash, she kisses him and she turns into a frog.

While this is going on, Lawrence is pretending to be Naveen.

Tiana and Naveen meet Louis (voiced by a fantastic Michael Leon Wooley), a jazz-enjoying alligator, and we get When We’re Human.

Meanwhile, Lawrence-as-Naveen proposes to Lottie.

While this is going on, Tiana and Naveen meet Raymond (a firefly) (voiced by Jim Cummings).

We then get Ma Belle Evangeline and Naveen dances with Tiana because Naveen needs to get serious and Tiana needs to loosen up. Tiana and Naveen then meet Mama Odie (voiced by a fantastic Jenifer Lewis), and…

Mama Odie is kind of like a G-rated/PG-rated Blind Al from Deadpool.

Anyway, we then get Dig a Little Deeper.

Naveen is going to propose to Tiana; however, he decides to propose to Lottie so that Tiana can get the money that she needs for her restaurant. But, Lawrence-as-Naveen is already in the process of marrying Lottie, and…

Boy, it is like the same people that made this movie made The Little Mermaid or something.

Anyway, Doctor Facilier kills Ray and Facilier entices Tiana with her dream life; however, Tiana rebukes him and Facilier dies.

Tiana tries to talk Naveen out of his marrying Lottie plan and Lottie agrees to kiss Naveen out of compassion; however, Lottie’s kiss does not work. Tiana and Naveen get married, they turn human and Tiana gets her restaurant.

The Princess and the Frog is still a classic.
