Does Beauty and the Beast hold up?

Let’s find out:

So we start off by meeting Prince Adam. One night, an old beggar woman came to Adam for shelter. She offered a rose as payment; however, Adam tries to turn her away. The woman turns into a beautiful enchantress, she turns Adam into a beast and she tells Adam that he will stay a beast unless he can love someone and have them love him in return before the last petal of the aforementioned rose drops.

We then get the fantastic Belle and we:

1. Meet Belle (voiced by the fantastic Paige O’Hara) and learn that she likes to read.

2. Meet the vain Gaston (voiced by the fantastic Richard White) and learn that he is interested in Belle; however, Belle is not interested in him.

3. Meet Gaston’s henchman LeFou (voiced by the fantastic Jesse Corti).

We then meet Belle’s inventor father Maurice (voiced by a fantastic Rex Everhart). Maurice goes to a fair; however, he accidentally stumbles upon the Sharpe house from Crimson Peak/the house from the opening of the Tales from the Crypt series and he (Maurice) meets:

1. Lumière (voiced by a fantastic Jerry Orbach) the candelabra.

2. Cogsworth (voiced by a fantastic David Ogden Stiers) the clock.

3. Mrs. Potts (voiced by a fantastic Angela Lansbury) the teapot.

4. Chip (voiced by a fantastic Bradley Pierce) the teacup. 

Maurice then meets the Beast (voiced by a fantastic Robby Benson), who takes him (Maurice) prisoner.

Back to the Belle story.

Gaston tries to marry Belle; however, she refuses. She (Belle) finds Maurice and she takes his place as the Beast’s prisoner.

We then get the fun Gaston.

Back to the Belle story.

Beast doesn’t want Belle to eat without him; however, the staff disobeys him and we get the fun Be Our Guest. Belle explores the West Wing even though the Beast told her not to explore the West Wing, Beast rages, Belle leaves, Belle is attacked by wolves and Beast saves her.

Back to the Gaston story.

Gaston plans to put Maurice in an insane asylum unless Belle marries him.

Back to the Belle story.

Beast gives Belle a library and we get Something There.

We then get Human Again, and…

Am… am I the only one that likes Human Again? Yeah, I hate the fact that they made Beast illiterate/severely out of practice on reading; but, yeah, I like Human Again.

Anyway, we then get the iconic dance scene set to Beauty and the Beast. Belle is missing her father; so, Beast lets her go. Gaston puts his plan into action; however, Belle proves the existence of Beast; so, Gaston decides to kill Beast.

We get Kill the Beast and Gaston and a mob head to the beast’s castle; however, the castle’s staff fights off the mob.

Gaston and Beast fight until Beast lets Gaston go. However, Gaston literally and figuratively stabs Beast in the back. Gaston winds up falling to his death and Belle tells Beast that she loves him, breaking the curse in the process.

We end with the castle staff becoming human again and Belle and Prince Adam get together.

Beauty and the Beast is still a classic.
