I liked Freaky Friday when I was a kid; but, does it hold up?

Let’s find out:

We start off by meeting Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan). Anna lives with her mom, Tess Coleman (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her brother, Harry (Ryan Malgarini). Tess is a widowed therapist and she is going to marry Ryan (Mark Harmon); however, Anna disapproves of the wedding plans.

Anna is dealing with a bully (Julie Gonzalo) and she (Anna) has a crush on Jake (Chad Michael Murray). Anna is also in a band (Pink Slip) and Pink Slip is going to audition for Wango Tango at the House of Blues; however, the audition is the same night as Tess’ wedding rehearsal.

Anna and Tess argue at Pei-Pei (Rosalind Chao)’s Chinese restaurant. Pei-Pei’s mom (Lucille Soong) gives Anna and Tess fortune cookies, and…

Yeah, this portion of the movie has not aged well.

Anyway, the fortune cookies make Anna and Tess switch bodies.

Anna and Tess go back to Pei-Pei’s restaurant and it turns out that it will take an act of selfless love for Anna and Tess to return to their original bodies.

Anyway, Tess!Anna goes to school. Anna’s bully tricks Tess!Anna into looking at something. Anna’s bully then tries to make it look like Tess!Anna was cheating, and…

I’m… I’m a little disappointed that Tess would fall for that.

While this is going on, Anna!Tess unsuccessfully tries to manage her mom’s psychology practice.

Anna!Tess then appears on a talk show and she does her best impression of Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah Winfrey’s couch.

Anna!Tess then runs into Jake and the two begin a brief romantic interlude.

Rehearsal dinner time! Ryan gives Tess!Anna permission to attend the Wango Tango audition and Anna!Tess helps her through it. Anna finally welcomes Ryan to the family, she gives an emotional speech, and…

I’m not crying. You’re crying.

Anyway, Tess and Anna switch back to their original bodies.

Wedding time! Tess and Ryan get married. Pei-Pei’s mom tries to switch Grandpa (Harold Gould) and Harry; however, Pei-Pei stops her. Tess approves of Jake, Jake and Anna get together and Anna plays with her band.

Freaky Friday is still a fun time. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis have excellent comedic and emotional timing.
