Material Girls came out when I was out of my Hilary Duff phase; but, is it any good?
Let’s find out:
Tanzania “Tanzie” Marchetta (Hilary Duff) and Ava Marchetta (Haylie Duff). Tanzie is prepping for college and Ava is engaged to Mic. Tanzie and Ava also neglect their late father’s cosmetics company (Marchetta Cosmetics).
However, it turns out that a Marchetta Cosmetics night cream causes bad side effects. At their home, Tanzie spills some nail polish remover, Ava drops her cigarette and a fire happens.
Ava and Tanzie move in with Inez (María Conchita Alonso), their maid, and there is talk of selling Marchetta Cosmetics to Fabiella (Anjelica “What are you doing in this movie?” Huston).
However, Ava and Tanzie decide to investigate and try to keep their company.
It turns out that the woman who was affected by the night cream had a skin condition. Ava becomes the CEO, chemist Tanzie studies, Ava winds up with Henry (Lukas Haas) and Tanzie winds up with Rick (Marcus Coloma).
Material Girls is a sugary migraine. It has all the cinematic stylings of a local ad and a good chunk of the characters are unsympathetic.
