Agent Cody Banks (2003) Movie Review

I liked Agent Cody Banks when I was a kid; but, does it hold up?

Let’s find out:

The film is about junior CIA agent Cody Banks (Frankie Muniz). Banks is tasked with finding Dr. Albert Connors (Martin Donovan), who works for the evil Dr. Brinkman (Ian McShane). The CIA puts Banks in the same school that Natalie Connors (Hilary Duff), the daughter of Dr. Albert Connors, attends and the CIA instructs Banks to romance Natalie.

The CIA also gives Cody a handler in the form of Ronica Miles (Angie Harmon), and…

I forgot how much fanservice is in this kids movie. You have everything from X-ray glasses to Angie Harmon strutting through male locker rooms.

Anyway, Cody and Natalie start their romance. Cody gets into a fight at Natalie’s birthday party and he is briefly taken off the case; however, you know that he is going to save the day.

We then find out that Dr. Brinkman is planning to use nanobots- nanobots that destroy things made out of carbon and silicon- to take over the world. We also discover that he is planning to distribute these nanobots through ice cubes because the ice cubes stop the nanobots from being active. Dr. Albert Connors refuses to help Dr. Brinkman with this plan; so, Dr. Brinkman kidnaps and threatens Natalie. Cody arrives, Ronica fights Dr. Brinkman’s cronies, Natalie kills Dr. Brinkman by putting a nanobot-infused ice cube in his mouth and Cody blows up Dr. Brinkman’s facility.

Cody prepares for more adventures with the CIA and he and Natalie get together.

Agent Cody Banks is your average Spy Kids rip-off.
